The following CV settings have been found to give great performance from the Trix Mikado.
These settings were discovered by Norm Stenzel after much trial and error. Once the loco was set with the following CV values this locomotive operated very nicely with the sound synchronized to its movement.
CV 2 = 4 Default Value = 4 START VOLTAGE
CV 3 = 0 Default Value = 8 ACCELERATION
CV 4 = 0 Default Value = 6 DECELERATION
CV 5 = 35 Default Value = 64 MAX VOLTAGE
CV 6 = 20 Default Value = 22 MID POINT VOLTAGE
CV 29 = 6 Default Value = 4 CONFIGURATION REGISTER
CV 49 = 1 Default Value = 33 EXPANDED CONFIGURATION
CV 61 = 0 Default Value = 8 ACCELERATION TIME IN SIGNAL BLOCK
CV 62 = 0 Default Value = 4 DECELERATION TIME IN SIGNAL BLOCK
On my locomotive he turned off CVs 3, 4, 61, 62 acceleration and deceleration out of personal preference but in actuality these seemed to have no effect on the operation of the locomotive regardless of the value.
CV 8 set to a value of 8 is supposed to reset the decoder CVs to factory settings. Assuming the settings listed in the manual are correct, CV 8 does not work properly. The following list shows the values set by setting CV 8 to 8 versus the factory settings listed in the manual.
CV 1 = 3 Factory setting in manual = 3
CV 2 = 4 Factory setting in manual = 4
CV 5 = 64 Factory setting in manual = 63
CV 6 = 22 Factory setting in manual = 25
CV 8 = 151 Factory setting in manual = -
CV17+18 = 0 Factory setting in manual = 0
CV 29 = 4 Factory setting in manual = 4
CV 49 = 19 Factory setting in manual = 33
CV 61 = 40 Factory setting in manual = 8
CV 62 = 64 Factory setting in manual = 4
CV 63 = 64 Factory setting in manual = 2
